WEC has joined Connecticut’s Pollinator Pathway Initiative in order to create and help connect pollinator-friendly habitats and food sources for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and insects. Residents from over 85 Connecticut towns have already agreed to open their yards, and to create colorful habitats for a safe and continuous corridor for our vulnerable pollinators.

WEC hosted a Pollinator Kick-Off zoom event on April 28. John Markelon (from Litchfield Pollinator Pathway Initiative) explained the project, offered native plant options, emphasized “No-Mow May” and mobilized residents to invite all kinds of pollinators into their yards.

WEC is also working on mapping pollinator pathways throughout washington, ct. snap the QR code below to take a survey and help us gather important information on what our community can do to help pollinators!
